Through my school, Ardscoil na Tríonóide, Athy I have been able to access copies of the Irish Student Press and it has really won me over. The way it really relates to students all over Ireland and how it gives information on other schools and school activities. I think this is essential in school life as students like to read and see how people their own age get on in different ways, whether its their education, sports or other extra-curricular activities likewise. Along with this its great coverage of current affairs, music, business and sport gives it a place alongside any newspaper available in Ireland today and the future can only bring bigger and brighter things for it.

In my opinion the student press is really good because most teenagers nowadays have no interest in reading the news or watching it on t.v. but with the student press it has the type of news that most teenagers like to read and know more about such as the latest news on sports e.g. on the latest issue it had the story about Robby Kean joining Celtic’ and the latest news on music. Music is my life so every time my technology teacher gives us the student press the first thing iI always do is go to the music section and see what people think about the latest song that are in the charts at the moment.Once teenagers get a glance of what they like then they might look through the paper and they might see another topic that they would like to read about. I also like the way people can have there own say in the paper.

I’m in Old Bawn Community School in Tallaght and my enterprise teacher got me into Irish student press about a month ago.
The news paper is much more interesting that the others as it comments and writes articles about subjects that we are interested in.
It did make me see that some news papers can be interesting so I’ve started reading news papers around the house as well.

I am in fourth year in Old Bawn Community School Tallaght and my Enterprise teacher got me interested in Student Press. The newspaper is far more interesting than any other. I find it easy to read. I got interested in the articles within the paper, they are very interesting and very well written. The stories in the newspaper grabbed my attention and also got me into reading other newspapers.

I my opinion I think the student press is a great idea, it gives students a chance to express themselves to others like them. It is also great to help students branch out by entering competitions or even helping them to speak up about a idea they might have. It also helps with daily School life either by studing tips or a place they might turn for help. Another reason I like student press is its ability to keep you interested in the magazine like adding in Music news or just about Celebs. Love Student Press

Our school only started getting the student press but I think it’s interesting and I hope we keep getting it because it’s about stuff that we want to hear and not all about politics which is what is in most Irish papers. I also like the way there is tips about studying in it too, I don’t need it as much because I amn’t in third or sixth year but I still find it helpful. Another thing I like is the way you mention students who achieve things which you woudn’t find in any other papers.
But if there was one thing else I would like in the paper is a few jokes on the puzzle page, it is a bit of fun and I know other students who wanted some jokes too.

At cspe class today in school our teacher gave out your student press newspaper,and to be honest with you I thought the newspaper was the best thing ever,and because it so small it’s really easy to read.You see the big real newspapers are too long and all the storys and for adults.But your newspaper is short and there’s a story for everybody in it.

I have recently started to read the Irish Student Press and I have to say it is so cool. The way students from all different schools around Ireland can have a say and can show their achievements in school for example, winning a sports championship.

Also it’s really great for giving students these days the news that they seem to be interested in. I have never really read newspapers before but when my teacher gave me a copy of the Irish student press and I thought there was some cool articles in it and I couldn’t stop reading it.

My school: De La Salle College Waterford. In my own opinion, I believe your website is extremely interesting, I recieved your paper today in my enterprise class. I read the paper, decided to look up your website. I think your website gives a lot of information teenagers actually want to know, like some things are to complicated for us. On the website and paper it gives us what we want to find out about. I came across this competition and i said i would give it ago because i never had a console, i have always longed for one but i never got one. Overall Student Press 10/10. Thanks

I think the paper is great. I am in third year in Ratoath College and I found the “tips for the mocks ” section very helpful. I also enjoy reading the film review of “Invictus” and now plan to go and see it. I loved the paper and plan to get the next issue soon.

I am a student from Scoil Dara in KilKock.I really enjoy reading the Student Press.I am one of the first to get a copy everytime it arrives.I enjoy reading this paper so much because of its varity of topics but don’t overly focus on one. I found it great that you even talked about video games and the new Russian Stealth Bomber and you don’t use words that are extremely over complicated to portray a simple point. That’s all I have to say so I look forward to hearing your reply.

I enjoy reading Student Press. I find that it is very helpful for studying and exams. Though I am not currently anticipating any big exam (Such as the mocks, junior cert. or leaving cert.), the tips for the mocks have certainly helped me. I hope to put it to good use and hopefully see improvement in my schoolwork.

Other than the tips on studying, I found the news an enjoyable read. I was impressed by the diverse materials in the newspaper as I think it can appeal to a large audience. Oftentimes, students show a lack of interest towards news and are more attracted towards pop culture. As Student Press has provided a few pages of entertainment news which is certain to catch students’ eyes. The sports pages are also something that appeal to students as in this point in time, they are involved in sporting activities themselves.

What really impressed in this newspaper was the involvement of the reader. There were interesting contests on a fair few of the pages, with eye-catching prizes to offer! Not to mention the encouragement for students write in themselves!

I think the student press is a very interesting paper. I especially liked the article about where recycled goods go. I never knew that glass could be recycled. But my favourite section is the sport section.

When my teacher first gave me the ‘Student Press’, I thought it was just a normal paper.
However, on closer inspection I realised that it was a paper devoted to us students around the country and my school ‘St Peters College’. Not only that, but it had relevent information to us. Such things included Barack Obama’s first year in office, the Haiti disaster, not to mention film, book and television reviews. Also really good competitions like this one here.

It’s a great paper, very informative and great language used by the writers. The wide range of topics appeals to all students and the arcticles are brilliantly written. Unlike the other free newspapers the Student Press is well done and excellently edited. From the colour to the texture you can tell it’s a quality paper.

As a 5th year student in Scoil Mhuire Community School in Clane, I enjoy reading the Student Press as it relieves some of the stresses of doing exams. It’s fashion and entertainment sections are always a must after a tiring school day.
