The iPad is Coming

ipad-touch-coverThe sun is shining on this warm April day in New York. The queue is moving quickly. I’m outside the Apple Store, a glass cube jutting out of the concrete maze that is Manhattan.

As I make way down the glass spiral stair case I first set my eyes on Steve Jobs’ “Magical and Revolutionary Device”, the iPad.

When I reach the crowded table where Apples latest creation lays, I immediatley grab the first available one, to the dissapointment of other eager Apple Fans.

Firstly, the iPad looks brilliantly, something Apple seems to so well. Apple have really perfected this, it’s size, perfect in your hands. Its weight, incredibily light. It is very difficult to fault Apple on this.

To use the iPad is a pleasure. It’s multi-touchscreen display is extremley responsive and ever so bright. Browsing the Internet is something the iPad does almost flawlessly. Seeing whole webpages, like Facebook.Com in front of you is amazing. However I must be slightly critical now as the iPad like the iPod Touch and iPhone does not support Flash player, making numerous sites including, RTE Player, inaccsesible on the iPad.

Photos on the iPad is possibly my favourite feature. The ability to pinch and grab entire albums is something no other device can match. It’s easy to arrange photos and play slideshows also with an upcoming accesory you’ll be able to view these on a projector or even on your TV.

The iPad also boast an iBooks store and reader which aims to challenge other eReader devices such as the kindle. Another New feature is the iWorks apps which are very similar in nature to Microsoft Office.

Unfortunatley it seems our greedy American cousins liked the iPad so much that it sold more than expected and we won’t be able to get the iPad until mid- summer.
